Heavy Fabrication Supervisor

We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Heavy Fabrication Supervisor to join our leadership team. This individual will organize, coordinate, and supervise employees and daily activities within the fabrication department to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality operation that consistently meets production goals.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with manufacturing experience who is committed to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and developing employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily operations within the heavy fabrication department.
- Develop tooling and fixtures while recommending and directing heavy tank production operations.
- Hire, coach, develop, evaluate, and when necessary, recommend disciplinary action or termination of fabrication team members.
- Stay informed of current and future company policies and procedures affecting the department.
- Communicate department performance, issues, and progress to the Plant Manager.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, Machine Shop, Sub-Assembly, Paint, and Sales departments to ensure products are completed on schedule and to quality standards.
- Promote company policies, safety regulations, employee programs, and a positive, drug-free work environment.
- Oversee installation of products on truck tractors, scrapers, and trailers, including pumps, valves, piping, hydraulics, air systems, electrical systems, and related components.
- Ensure designated welder/fitters conduct daily tank crew meetings to review work orders, production goals, specifications, and time standards.
- Inspect work orders and fabrication throughout the production process to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
- Hold employees accountable for Lean Manufacturing practices, workplace organization, and the safe use of equipment and tooling.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Ability to learn manufacturing software and complete transactions related to fabrication and welding operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams through coaching, training, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and effective decision-making.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication, welding operations, and production equipment.
- Thorough understanding of workplace safety practices and OSHA compliance.
- Ability to demonstrate welding and fabrication job tasks when needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, twist, push, pull, grip, and climb throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around fabrication equipment and machinery.
